Donne Barocche

Throughout much of the baroque era composers only earned a living writing music if they were fortunate enough to be on the payroll of a political or religious institution. With women it was even harder to have a say when you were lucky to be paid to do a job still thought to be solely for men anyway. And, if you didn't come from a musical family supporting you, that made things even harder. Still, many women managed to overcome these odds and many great works were produced from the women of the Baroque.

DONNE BAROCCHE presents a selection of works by women composers from 17th to 18th century for soprano & continuo as well as harpsichord solo including a few world première performances.  Performed on period instruments by Audacium Baroque Ensemble.
